Subterrean Life

Besides refurbishing the brainwashingmachine for Graz,
I use my basement studio for storage mostly ...

and for doing the spraypaintjobs on the Popelismi.

So today my basement got a new inhabitant - a dummy for the brainwash-installation, borrowed from Evi Tauchen.

The electrode-cap seems to fit nicely, doesn't it!

Satanic Life, probiotic

I decided to use up this probiotic Actimel(TM)-drink before it turns diabolic on 06/06/06, a date Satanists around the globe are looking forward to in anticipation.

Life stands still on holidays

At least in Austria.
It took quite a while today before I even realized it was a holiday (don't ask me which) - the supermarket was closed on my way back home from a trip through the property of the old general hospital of Vienna ...

looking for the University Clinic for Odontology, I passed the Narrenturm, the grand Pathologic-anatomical Museum, strolling through endless yards (now that I know it was a holiday it seems less strange it was so silent around), where various University institutes moved into the abandoned hospital-buildings.

When I finally found the front entrance of the clinic, I was led to believe I was too late to show up for making an appointment - a sign said something about 12 o' clock!

Now, of course, I'm wondering if I'll find out the check-in is open into the early afternoon anyway, when I show up tomorrow morning?!

Life, looking for the best caffeine care

I've posted on Starbucks in Vienna's General Hospital before, but today I bring you the sign pointing out 2 caffeine emergency stations easily accessible from the main floor.

The AKH is in fact a gigantic building complex and leading the crowds to caffeine outlets without unneccessary detours is indeed highly important.

I luckily have no experience how this issue is handled in other large hospitals around the world, but I can confirm Vienna AKH is giving the coffeine supply matter the appropriate attention.

Life, defrosting

I hope this shot of the chunk of ice, that was located inside the freezing compartment, shows why it took most of Sunday to defrost my fridge.

Magnetic Life

I have put a couple of the neodym-supermagnets I recently ordered to a super use!

I attached them to old ceramic pieces I had lying around ...

... like these broches/buttons (one of which is for sale on Art Yard Sale) ...

... or that chessman, converted to a paper clip holder.

More of this in my new personal flickr-gallery!

Bogey Life

Two more Popelismus-paintings are done, finished and coated.

One is simply titled Black, the other, being a "representational" image, is called Sea.

I took this occasion to put up a Popelismus page on shifz.org.

Also new: Oskar Fischer in shifz.org Artasylum's audio section.

Mother-Life

Mother's day indeed for Cocobella, my sister's family's cat - this night she gave birth to 5 übercute kittens!
Funny to watch, how 5 balls of blind, furry loveliness turn people of all ages (5-70) into kidlike soft beings.

Disapproving Life

Found this page featuring rabbits showing off their disapproval via a comment on Cute O. ...

That animated gif of a sad kangaroo too.

That's Life, BoingBoing!

Only three days ago, last thursday, Boingboing (my #1 newssource on robot invasions) lost it's status as Technorati's number one ranking blog.
To "老徐 徐静蕾 新浪BLOG" by Xu Jing Lei.
Alas, my browser won't show the chinese characters of either the name or the blog itself.

Ranking #24 on Technorati's list is Cute Overload, which is always worth a link.

Life, made out of Meat

... a short-film adaptation
of science fiction author Terry Bisson's short story "They're Made Out of Meat." ... it won grand prize at the Science Fiction Museum's First Annual Short Film Festival.

"They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"Meat. They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"There's no doubt about it. We picked up several from different parts of the planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, and probed them all the way through. They're completely meat."
"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars?"
"They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them. The signals come from machines."
"So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact."
"They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines."

Billboard Life

Rolling their eyes in irritation, Wolfgang Amade, Freud and probably other dead Wieners, advertise the upcoming Wiener Festwochen ...

Street Life

Imprint of a leaf in the sidewalk, that i found at the corner of Hadikgasse opposite Schönbrunn Palace ...

Finally something cool about this corner they re-constructed last winter - when one day, they did such a bad job fencing the site, that i was lead to step into a hole behind a row of cobblestone falling flat on the cold ground.
